All is HERE

Ultramundanism, the belief in an afterlife, feeds the dual confusion and deprives us of living our true nature.

LIFE, as Totality, is One, Absolute, Unborn, Without-Second, Without-Space, Without-Time. Nothing can be, exist, or lie beyond LIFE.

Thus, in absolute terms, it is not logical and not sense to speak of a “there,” for it would be “outside” of LIFE. Every possibility, past, present, or future, is HERE, in LIFE.

It is only in relative field of duality that concepts of space (here, there, above, below) or of time (past, present, future, eternity…) appear.

But, ultimately, whatever it may be, it is HERE, in LIFE.

The Pernicious Ultramundanism

Every ultramundane belief, in an afterlife, in another life, nourishes dual confusion and deprives us of the experience of our true nature.

Ultramundanism is based on the stubborn egoic belief that, as individuals, we have our own separate existence, distinct from LIFE. And it is reinforced by intertwining it with beliefs about the duality of matter and spirit, and the continuity of individualities in an “other life” that is eternal, “spiritual,” whether in heavenly worlds, parallel universes, or higher dimensions. Another life that we set in opposition to “this one,” which we disdain by considering it inferior, transitory, finite, “material,” mundane, simply because, through the eyes of the ego, everything seems to have an expiration date.

Ultimately, ultramundane beliefs arise from the need to find comfort that soothes the existential anguish with which we face the mystery of life. A comfort that, in reality, distances us from the experience of our true nature which, let us remember, is none other than LIFE. A comfort that, moreover, makes us vulnerable to manipulation by those who claim to hold the keys to the afterlife and insist that we should not worry about what we live in this life, because the one that matters is the other.

It may be argued that our understanding of reality is limited. But this cannot give rise to speculations or beliefs that cannot be verified by direct experience, for they would only lead us astray into discussions about whether such explanations are real or imaginary.

Reality (in capital letters, as a synonym of LIFE) is beyond comprehension. It is good that we humans are curious about understanding how things work in relative life. But we must not forget that it is not about having explanations for everything, but about living what we are. As long as we need explanations, we are not living authentically.

A drop in the sea cannot, nor does it need to, come to know the limits of the ocean, nor understand each and every one of its particularities. But it knows for certain that it is only water, like the whole ocean. Thus, once the differentiation generated by names and concepts is overcome, whether drop or ocean –it does not matter– it fulfils the function that corresponds.
