Are they fingers or a hand? It depends on how you look at it.
Each finger has the option of identifying itself as a finger or as a hand.
If it identifies as a finger, he will feel surrounded by other fingers, other individuals differentiated and alien to itself. It will seem to it that each one has its own will. Even – stretching the simile – the feeling of competition, of threat will immediately be activated. It will act for a “personal” purpose.
If it identifies itself as a hand, he will see other “hand shapes” that, like itself, perform the function of “finger”.
It will perceive the interaction of the multiplicity of forms and the harmony of the unitary result.
It will realize the great paradox of action: it is not itself who acts, but the hand; but at the same time, their action determines what the hand does.
In the same way, we all have the option of identifying ourselves as “me” or as LIFE. Depending on how we identify, we will live in conflict or harmony.
We are the fingers of LIFE.
