Sri Bhagavan Advaitananda Vyasa Goe

The Non-Dual Nature of LIFE gives form to all being, so every being has –in natural way, in itself– the faculty to realize LIFE, to know that himself is LIFE. We only need a sincere dedication to discover that We Are It already.

Advaitananda V.G. was always very discreet about the details of his life. He avoided all personal prominence, constantly insisting on that what’s really important is not the finger, but What the finger points.

Finally, he agreed that only one image and some brushstrokes of his biography were published. Not to praise his figure, but to leave a sample that the realization of Non-Dual Presence of LIFE is within the reach of every human being, and that it is not the result of a belief or doctrine, but of the direct experience, real, lived, of BEING.

He was born in 1931, in the neighborhood of Poble Sec in Barcelona, in a kind-hearted family. He always considered his grandparents and parents –together with his youth friend– as his authentic and most precious gurus.

His childhood was spent during the Spanish Civil War and the post-war period, for which his schooling was in religious schools, both in Barcelona and in Tortosa, where at the age of 9 he moved with the family to his grandparents’ house.

At this early age, he notes how his innate and tender experience of the ineffable nature of LIFE isn’t in harmony with the dogmatic explanations offered by his mentors. It was in the riversides of the Ebro river, between games and long solo walks, where that child contemplates, asks, inquiries itself without rest, and finally lives himself the Oneness on LIFE.

At the age of 16, the family returns to Barcelona and Advaitananda V.G. enters the university. There he can access new sources of information that facilitated him the possibility of contrasting his direct experience with the different forms of Tradition, the multiple currents of thought and the diverse ways of realization, both East and West. The permanent inquiry will accompany him all his life, because although he was always guided by his inner feeling, he was open to incorporate new ideas and formulas that were in harmony with his direct experience. An innate affinity with the Indian feeling, led him to begin in the practice of yoga and meditation almost self-didactic way, because at that time there were no places in Barcelona where to learn.

When he was about 20, he made a special retreat at the Pyrenees. It’s there when Advaitananda V.G. –as a natural and inevitable consequence of the direct experience of BEING–, clearly define the Proclaim that will present to every human being the possibility of discovering in itself the ineffable nature of LIFE, beyond beliefs and doctrinarian canons.

In next years, he related and participated in all spiritual circles existing in Barcelona at the time, offering lectures and introducing yoga and meditation practice. He always had a profound respect and recognition for each and every one of the religions presented throughout the humanity’s history. He considered them forms of a unique Tradition, and he always emphasized that all them pointed, in the last and deeper, the Oneness of LIFE. However, he didn’t always find good disposition and hearts enough opened for, at least, to glimpse the new Presentation.

In year 1978, there were in LIFE the propitious circumstances and Advaitananda V.G. founded the Advaita Universal Assembly, the Advaita Institute and the Internal Orders. From then until his Mahasamadhi, in year 2012, Sri Bhagavan Advaitananda Vyasa Goe proclaimed that the Non-Dual Nature of LIFE gives form to all being, so every being has –in natural way, in itself– the faculty to realize LIFE, to know that himself is LIFE. Therefore, no doctrines or beliefs are needed. In a natural way, without forcing, we only need a sincere dedication to discover that We Are It already.

Hundreds of his talks have been recorded, and some of them we will reproduce in this space. Also reflections and manuscript notes has been conserved, as well as a part of their unfinished treatise Sat Dharma (The Doctrine of the Non Doctrine). It was published a book titled Destellos, a compilation of aphorisms with which Advaitananda V.G. expressed the experience of the Oneness as multiple facets of the Only Light.
